About us

Agave Expeditions is an adventure tourism outfitter that has resulted from over a decade of adventure travel spanning the northern and southern hemispheres of our globe, specifically centered around Patagonia Chile, Iceland, and the Baja California peninsula.

What began as a lifestyle exploring San Diego’s peninsular range and chaparral foothills of Ramona California evolved into a lifelong pursuit of immersive experiences with nature. Utilizing 4x4 overland vehicles as our mobile basecamps, we aim to explore the diverse culture and eco-regions of the Baja California. We shift between remote desert camps, generational sierra ranches, locally owned eco-lodges, and coastal outposts. We work exclusively with local guides and outfitters, the true peninsula experts.

My time guiding in Patagonia and Iceland have provided me with unique skills which are vital towards creating travel experiences set upon the foundation of education, cultural heritage, ecology, and adventure sport. I have seen first hand the negative impacts social media fueled mass tourism has had on delicate ecosystems and communities, from the destruction of subarctic plant species, to housing insecurities amongst local residents.

Through my own observations, I believe this happens because oftentimes there is a disconnect between the traveler, the place, and the people who inhabit these regions. These physical spaces become trophies, in which we aim to grab and collect, amassing as many experiences as we can muster. We’re so often unaware of the rich cultural heritage which surrounds us, both indigenous and contemporary. Around the bend from a famous waterfall, are we aware of the blacksmith who’s ancestors have inhabited the region since the Viking era? Or the ranch inland from a world class surf break, which was founded by families of the first frontiersmen during the Jesuit mission period? It is the human and cultural element which gives exploring these wild places their richness, and I believe when we unite cultural heritage with adventure travel we begin to have a more meaningful connection with the places we explore.

We hope our way of seeing and experiencing the world around us more mindfully is the start towards a shift in the way we collectively travel. What I have learned during my own recent journey of self discovery is that oftentimes these experiences provide opportunities for adventure, both internally and externally. Adventures of the mind, body, and the spirit. It is the ability to bring back what we have learned, that changes how we show up for others in this world. Through this, I believe we make our planet a better place.
